The National Latina Health Network and the National Institute
of Health began its partnership in the summer of 2007 during the
pilot phase of NIH’s program called “Women of Color Pilot
Initiative”. This partnership flourished in an effort to address
the serious impact of heart disease among Latinas.

During the last three years, The National Latina Health
Network (NLHN) has integrated Heart Truth ® messages
through various strategies and activities that take into
consideration cultural factors such as language, cultural values
and protocols. As well as other acculturation and diversity issues
dealing with Latina’s health.
